Navigating the narrow alleys of the Medina can be challenging, especially for those unaccustomed to the labyrinth of streets. This maze-like layout might make finding the hotel tricky without assistance.

dar ben gacem is a lovely arab house right in the heart of the medina. the comfortable bed made for a great night's sleep. the staff were super friendly and always ready to help.

Charming decor throughout the hotel enhances the atmosphere.

The WiFi was dreadful, practically unusable during our stay. We had to ask repeatedly for additional towels, which felt like a hassle. The shower water was often lukewarm and discolored, making for an unpleasant experience.

The atmosphere was truly enchanting, especially when we spent

our evenings on the breathtaking rooftop terrace. Each morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with local flavors, while the vast array of art and traditional decor throughout the hotel made every moment a delight. However, we did experience a slight language barrier with some staff at times.

unfriendly staff

poor location

what an absoluteley disappointing experience. first, the staff seemed to enjoy smoking nearby during breakfast, which ruined the whole vibe. then, they didn’t even offer me a room upgrade, as if I’m just another guest! the location is a maze, and I found myself totally lost in the alleys. I just couldn’t give a good review.

beautiful courtyard

Couple's romantic getaway

We really enjoyed the breakfast that was fresh and delicious it was served in the courtyard and gave us a beautiful setting to start the day. The staff were so accommodating they even made sure we had cold water bottles to take to our room during the hot days.

It wasn’t inexpensive but for the quality and history it felt acceptable.

Just a top selection for a lightning stop in Tunis with great value for the money. The staff prepared a lovely wine and cheese platter for me on the rooftop, which was a nice touch. Make sure to ask for directions, it's easy to get lost in the alleys.
